Information About IPAT, Inc.

International Porcelain Artists and Teachers, Inc. is a non-profit, educational art organization, chartered in Texas in 1962. In 1959 twelve porcelain artists met in Dallas, Texas to contribute to the revival of porcelain art. When chartered, the name of the organization was National China Painting Teachers Organization. Within a short period of time the organization grew to an international level, and later become known as International Porcelain Artists and Teachers, Inc. and is made up of more than 3000 porcelain painters in approximately 30 countries around the globe.

The IPAT membership includes teachers, professional and non-professional artists from beginners to advanced. Click the membership application button to view or print a membership application. The purpose of IPAT is to promote, teach, and preserve this ancient art form of painting on porcelain. Toward these goals, IPAT publishes the PORCELAIN ARTIST which is an excellent teaching magazine and also features examples of art works and accompanying articles for the artists interested in new techniques. Click the Benefits of membership button to read more about the Benefits of IPAT Membership.

IPAT promotes the fine art of painting on porcelain through conventions and exhibitions around the world, workshops, evaluations, and an educational Certification Program offering members a variety of Certification Programs from which they can advance their knowledge and hone their painting skills. As funds permit, the educational arm of IPAT publishes small books of porcelain collections, free to members, which are not generally available.

IPAT maintains a corporate office and a museum at 204 East Franklin Street, Grapevine, Texas, USA. The museum, open to the public at no charge, is devoted to hand painted porcelain, where both antiques and examples of work being done today are exhibited and preserved for the future.

The International Conventions and exhibitions of IPAT, Inc. are held in the even years, biennially, and during the odd years Regional Conventions are held within the United States. Regional Conventions are held in other countries under the auspices of IPAT, Inc.

The work of IPAT, Inc. is supported solely by membership dues, subscriptions, convention proceeds and contributions. The organization is constantly seeking to maintain and enlarge the scope of its work with both private and corporate donations which are tax deductible to the extent of the law, and welcomes inquires in this area.
